A Collaborative CMS Success for VELOX Powered by Storyblok

When Nyffenegger Armaturen AG (Nyffox)—one of Switzerland’s most established brands in supplying sanitary fittings—sought to transform their e-commerce solution. Sly AG integrated Storyblock headless CMS into the project. The Storyblock was one of several integrations we did during this project. It was important for VELOX to have a CMS solution, but one that was flexible enough to become suitable for each client. In Nyffenegger Armaturen AG, they had mostly everything except one thing that was missing: a modern CMS.

The Challenge: Finding the Right CMS for a Headless Future

Rather than reinventing the wheel, Sly AG built its headless CMS, which matched the flexibility and speed of VELOX's existing best-in-class solutions, on top of them. Sly AG began with a focused evaluation process—leveraging the power of the TecHUB ecosystem. Rather than going it alone, Sly engaged expert partners like DeWave, who had proven success with previous Storyblok-based projects. This collective input narrowed the shortlist to Prismic, Contentful, and Storyblok. Storyblok ultimately stood out for its balance of performance, usability, price, and support—especially important for a mid-sized, design-conscious client.

Why Storyblok?

Storyblok, an Austrian SaaS CMS provider with strong DACH roots, aligned with VELOX’s principles: agile, headless, and simplicity. Its grid-based architecture made it possible to create responsive, multilingual content across devices and screens. More importantly, Storyblok’s SaaS model reduced maintenance overhead, allowing Nyffenegger to focus on experience rather than infrastructure.

The Power of Headless and Composable E-Commerce

The integration of Storyblok into VELOX exemplifies the core principles of composable commerce architecture. Rather than relying on a monolithic platform where all components are tightly coupled, composable architecture allows businesses to select best-of-breed solutions for each function—whether that's content management, payments, logistics, or product information—and connect them through APIs.

In a headless e-commerce setup, the front-end presentation layer is decoupled from the back-end systems. This separation means that Storyblok can manage all content independently while VELOX handles the commerce functionality. The result is greater flexibility: marketing teams can update content without developer intervention, while technical teams can swap or upgrade individual components without disrupting the entire system.

Sly played a pivotal role throughout the project lifecycle. René from Sly wore multiple hats—project manager, architect, DevOps lead, and even proxy product owner. Sly AG’s lean-agile methodology allowed Nyffox to steer sprints, backlog grooming, thereby empowered cross-functional coordination. Sly led biweekly stand-ups and refinement meetings with Nyffox, ensuring consistent progress and transparency.

Sly’s implementation of VELOX revealed a growing need for more than a basic CMS. What started as a minimal integration quickly evolved into a full-featured content platform. Nyffenegger wanted more than just blocks—they wanted elegant design and editorial freedom. Sly, together with TecHUB, mobilized.
